Beth’s bohemian 1920s inspired wedding dress was great fun to make. Beth and Lawrence are friends from school days and they wanted all of the people around them to be involved in making their wedding day happen, so she asked me whether I would make her dress for her.
Made from vintage Battenburg lace table cloth for the detailing on the drop waist, a beautiful silk chiffon in a warm vintage colour that I liked to call biscuit for the skirt and sumptuous silk crepe with a beautiful drape for the top.
She wanted the whole dress loose and comfortable with a swishy skirt that would be loads of fun for floating about and dancing in, just off the floor so it would be suitable for their outdoors, festival-style wedding. The low, slouchy back was a must.
She also asked me to make some turquoise sashes for her silver bridesmaids dresses to go along in the 1920s vein.
